I’m pleased to announce that my photographs are now licensed under a Creative Commons license. Unlike most licenses and copyright terms, this one gives you rights, so listen up!
Under the terms of the license, you are free to:
- Copy, distribute, and display my photos
- Make derivative works using my photos
You may exercise these rights as long as:
- My work is credited
- My photos are not used for commercial purposes
In plain english, this license allows you to use my photos in any manner of your choosing, so long as appropriate credit is given and the photos are used in a non-commercial setting. This is in stark contrast to traditional copyright, where you have no rights unless otherwise stated. By licensing my work under the Creative Commons, I am relinquishing certain rights to give you more freedom to advance science and the arts.
